Well. We couldn’t go past a month on wellness without considering language, could we? InCWC we love to look at definitions of words, as we know it gives clarity when we are communicating with other members of our species (and maybe even other species, hey Stanley)- the more clarity we have on what we truly want, the more we allow ourselves to speak that truth and the better we get those ideas across to those around us, the richer our lives can be. Sounds fun, and of course, a walk in the park.. Until we realise that the person we want to be able to communicate with the most honestly and openly with is ourselves.
Last week on FB of all places, it was revealed to us that not everyone has an inner dialogue going on. In fact, some people (and there’s a lot of them- some of “them” could be YOU) just have impressions, pictures or sensations. Both of us have a constant stream of consciousness going on all.the.time so we can hardly imagine what such peace would be like. Which begs the question: what do you have?
Are you talking to yourself all day? And if you are what kinds of things do you say? Are the majority of those statements affirming and moving you towards the life you would love to have, and relishing the beauty that already exists for you?
And if you don’t, are you creating external opportunities to sort out the feelings and ideas, and arrange them so your life can be more of what you want? What strategies do you use to ensure you are finding joy in your moments?
The first thing we would love you to do this week is to notice what you have going on inside your unique mind: is it one of these things above, or a mixture? What is your blend?
Next, we would love you to have a look and a listen to the language constructs you are using. (And for you silent types: what pictures are you imagining, and what feelings are you evoking?)
Once you start to notice your language of wellness, you can move towards more nourishing discussions. Perhaps you might like to remove some words entirely, or maybe some of them would do well with a reframe. As we will discuss in the blog, often it can be just one word that can reposition a whole thought process, and allow for gratitude, happiness and even wellness to creep on in.
In these times when people are discussing all sorts of ‘health’ issues on the internet (and even taking selfies of themselves undergoing medical procedures and experiments), an empowering opportunity exists for us- one where we can have a look at the words that are being used, choose our own words carefully, and expand our world.
So your last thing to do this week, is to explore the language of wellness, health, sickness and everything in between. For example: are do you HAVE a cold or are you DOING a clean out? Do you HAVE a fever, or are you burning-off the junk? Are you sick or doing a wellness response? There are so many ways to think and share the wellness continuum internally, and with those around us.
Let’s have some fun with well-words!
