Before you begin, come from a calm space.
This process is not about blame and recriminations.
We want you to have a very clear outcome (Step 5) and also to own YOUR emotions. It’s not about saying, “You make me feel” but more, “This is how I feel.” Own that.
Lastly, get buy in from the person you are ‘truthing’. The process ideally goes for just a couple of minutes, so you want them to remain quiet until you complete the process.

Here are the steps:
1. “I am feeling .…” (upset/angry/jealous etc).
2. “When you do (state what the person is doing/saying), I feel like…” (state what it feels like).
3. “I am afraid that .…” (state what you are afraid may happen if this continues).
4. “What I would like to happen is .…” (be very clear).
5. “What I want for us is ….” (future pace the outcome clearly).
6. “I love and appreciate you.”
