Extracting Strengths from Problems

Some things we are naturally good at (our strengths) but we can use them too much or too little. 

Use these questions to look closely at a current problem sin your life, something you are 

struggling with, and focus on what you are doing ‘too right’ or ‘not right enough’. 

  1. Describe the current problem

    What are you struggling with at the moment? Describe it in detail.

  2. Identify problematic context or life domain.

    In what are of your life is this problem having the greatest impact? (Eg Family, work etc)

  3. Identify problematic behaviour in yourself.

    Is there something that you are doing too much or too little of that may be contributing to this problem?

  4. Extract your strength.

    How can you reframe the behaviour (step 3) as strength being over or underplayed? Remember that a strength is something that you are naturally good at, and in the context of this personal problem, you may have over or underplayed one of your strengths.

  5. Action(s) to remedy the problem.

    What can you do to help remedy the problem? Describe at least one actionable step that you could take.
