Quick Click 81: Tree Felling
In the Solomon Islands, it is said that trees can be killed with words- that if designated tree fellers yell at a tree for around a month, it just dies. They believe the yelling kills the spirit of the tree (I haven’t seen this first hand yet, but there is a ripper of a thing blocking some of my beach view, so if you are wondering what all the racket is, it’s me outside yelling at the thing and hoping for water views. -Al).
This tree felling idea got us thinking about the Global Coherence Initiative again (okay, so we might be a little obsessed) and what this could mean for us all. We’ve all heard of such things, haven’t we? The Rice Experiment, and then Emoto’s work on the crystalline structure of water, and countless other examples in our daily lives where we can ‘feel’ the intention and attention. When we know things that we can’t really explain with our educated mind. When we get feelings about people or events that somehow come to be. When we just ‘know’.
It’s funny how often we get these knowings, and then dispel them with a wave, dismissing them as nonsense, and doubting ourselves, or not respecting our intuitions. It’s even funnier how often our intuitions turn out to be right.
Imagine if we stopped pretending that we aren’t all connected, and decided to run our lives in a different way. One where we know that our thoughts and actions have an effect on other people and things, and that the health of our world and the people in it can be affected by little old us?
Imagine the impact we could have.
This week we would love you to devote some time to have a think about this.
Do you believe there is more to this human experience we are having than just what we can see in front of us?
Or do you think there might be some events that seem almost magical?
The best thing about all of this is that you get to choose which path (or rainbow) you want to walk along. You can yell at trees or send good juju to strangers. You can meditate and think it helps just you, your immediate environment, or the entire planet. Or you can think this is all rubbish, and your thoughts are just for you.
We would love to hear what you think.
(And if you are a tree killer, feel free to cut down the Sunrise Beach tree.)
