Welcome to June Cliquers!
Our theme this month is Get Connected, and so we will be talking a LOT about what is means to be connected (and of course disconnected) as always, from the perspective of how you can use this concept to click into the life of your dreams.
Our oil is Marjoram (no prizes for figuring out it’s the oil of connection- you can read all about it in the Member Area). You probably know that Marj is a bit like Oregano- in cooking it’s often used in soups and in meat dishes- but did you know it’s often used as a “heart and nerve tonic”? Perfect for a month of talking about heart and mind connections. (And Al is a sucker for anything that calls itself a tonic).
So why connection?
Last month we got busy figuring out all the things that bring fun to your world, so we have been priming the pump. Now it’s time to go a bit deeper and really bring your heart into your game of life.
If you’ve heard anything from researcher Brene Brown, you’ll know that she thinks that connection with others is our whole reason for being. It’s a big statement, and something worth looking at. The research tells us that making strong connections with the people around us strengthens our immune system, improves our heart function and even helps us live longer.
On the backdrop of what is happening in society right now, we believe it’s time for us to lead the way ladies, and it starts with YOU. And we don’t mean you have to make placards and go out and march. No, we mean it’s time for us to take notice of ourselves.
This week we would love you to think about the people and pets around you and notice two things:
Why do you have them in your life?
What helps you to feel closer, more connected, and more loving towards them?
You may wish to really “five sense” this, as you take in the look, feel, and smell of heart connection. You might even notice what you hear, or even taste (no Sam, don’t lick Stanley). Noticing this five sense data will help you to build some connections in your brain about what you need to feel more connected.
Our last task for you is a little experiment: the researchers say that if we stare into the eyes of a loved one (and some say this even works for our pets) for three minutes, our heart rates will synchronise. Let’s all become scientists for a week and test it out.
Happy connecting.
